Billie Nail Stickers -

Although these are very pretty - I found them extremely difficult to apply. They are very thin I thought I could peel them off of the clear backing and apply them - but each little sticker needs to be cut out and applied to the nail. I give them an 8 out of 10 in level of difficulty.

The wrinkles are very visable if you get up close - but overall for $1.29 I cant really complain. There was quite an assortment of styles at my local dollar store; but I think I will stick to regular nail stickers from now on.

I applied just Clear polish to my Index and ring nail..... the rest of my nails were Nailene TC. I think that a coat of irridescent glitter over my entire nail would be good for this mani - but after the troubles I had I just left them as is.

Also - Sally Hansen WTF????? - where are my drug store duo-chrome / irridescent/prismatic collection? There is no way that a drugstore brand cant put out a line EXACTLY like this in the near future

nail stickers from the dollar store

for stickers this thin - cut out each sticker and roll onto the nail.

before TC

my index and ring are just clear polish - middle and pinky are Nailene TC

Pink shimmery mani with nail stickers from the dollar store

2 thin coats of Icing no-name bright pink shimmer form an older 5 set of polish's with beautiful nail stickers from a dollar store in my town. I found these stickers at Looney Twoons( lol) dollar store in my town, there are very dainty and pretty. I applied them to my ring nails, added a single holographic hex glitter to the center of the flower and added a coat of Nailene top Coat.

lol-  my polish from my right hand is all over this package. It was hard to open! I thought I could be stealthy with wet nails and get the stickers out. So after I post this I will be redoing most of the nails on my right hand.

Plug Yourself Sunday & some 'nail art'

This is some practicing with the stripe polish. The base I used is 2 coats of a pretty pink franken, a sponging of a white shimmer from Icing, and a coat of a  sparkly older Sally Hansen Polish called Pina Colada Pop. I added the butterfly stickers { Fing'rs Flirt } and then added some holographic pink hexagon glitter to the swirly things & a coat of top coat

Sometimes I can make a beautifully tapered line with the striping polish, and other times it looks chunky and wonky - practice makes perfect but for mistakes there is always glitter (which i didn't use but should have)

I got caught up in crafty things this weekend: beading and sewing new throw cushion covers. the beautiful weather we are having kept me away from the computer.

Please leave your nail blog address in my comments if I don't already have you on my blog roll♥

Purple Rain Franken #2 'Integrity'

I whipped up some frankens with another one of my go to polish's - Billie Purple Rain. The original polish is a medium magenta creme with some subtle shimmer in it. I added Billie White, which is a fast drying opaque white creme. Adding white brightened it up ALOT, while still maintaining the bright colour. I added some nail stickers to my artificial nails as they have taken a beating the last few days.

This is 2 coats of my franken, 'Integrity' with a coat of TC. The stickers are old, I am trying to work though my massive nail sticker hoarding issues....

Below- with the original polish Billie Purple Rain

These old Revlon bottles came from the Dollar Tree- Yeeeeeaaaahh dollar tree USA!

Original - Billie Purple Haze, Franken#3 'Get'n down on the Low Down', #2 'Integrity' and #1'Faith'

For the first franken ' Get'n Down on The Low Down'  I just dumped some shimmery polish in with Purple Rain, the other two are varying amounts of white. Super-duper easy to do. However the white polish dries ridiculously fast &  does not self-level like most polish's and I had alot of brush marks. Billie French white dries fast and can cover completely in 2 coats. Most top coats I try with this polish pick-up the colour, so I usually use a coat of clear before I add TC when I wear this polish.

.... And below is a quick comparison of what this Billie Brand has to offer in regards to bright cheerful purple cremes with subtle shimmer. Purple Rain has subtle gold micro-shimmer, while Purple haze is a straight up deep magenta creme neon. Electric Purple haze silver micro-shimmer.

Nail Stickers and Nailene Black Frenh Tip Pen

I have far too many nail art items that I do not use enough & WOW I did a sloppy acetone clean up and it made the skin surrounding my nails look awful, I much prefer to use moisturizer around my nails, paint, and then hopefully peel it off, especially when wearing pastels....

This is a quick look I did using Nailene black French Tip Pen, Beauties Factory sticker strips and a light greyed out baby blue franken. I like these types of large nail stickers, they are easy to use and pretty. They can be found at Sally's Beauty Supply, or online at Beauties Factory. There is a few eBay stores who sell these types of loooong nail stickers as well.

This was 3 coats of my franken, followed by the nail stickers, the Black french tip pen, and finally Top Coat.

ALSO: Thanks everyone for your comments of my 'Chloe Patchwork Mani', I didn't really appreciate it until the next day, I plan on trying that again.

stuff I used................ un-named greyed out baby blue Franken, beauties Factory Nail Stickers, Nailene French Tip Pen in lack, Nailene Top Coat

I find this easy to apply to my nail this way= instead of cutting them individually, I like to peel a small segment off and 'roll it' onto my nail.

if the stickers over-extend the width of the nail they will peel off pretty quick; my middle nail is good and I made sure to have the TC all the way to the edge of my nail, but my ring nail is already lifting after washing my hands twice

oops! I think I should have added this last week, but this was on sale at Micheal's crafts store for 5 bucks.... I always wanted to try some nail art with those bullion bead things, and that bar glitter is seriously pretty

♥ A Winters Eve ♥

Whew!  I am glad I added those two pretty winter looks to my blog first. This turned out as I envisioned ~ but my photos don't do it justice. If you are not familiar with central Canadian weather, then you cant imagine someone mocking the beauty of a snowfall. The temperatures in my part of the country are brutal, the wind is fierce and the snow falling is not romantic and charming like in the movies or TV - We finally got our first real snowfall, and although I think snow can be pretty, It's put me in dismal state. Is there a nail polish exchange student program..... anyone? I'd like to hang out in Florida or Mexico for the next couple of months!

sigh - here is my first winter theme mani of 2010 - I call it ' A Winters Eve '. Wet n' Wild black for the base, some gorgeous Nailene and Fing'rs nail stickers, and rhinestones ( both dollar store and Nailene - more on that later..... ) and Wet n' Wild Kaleidoscope = I dabbed this on and smoosed it around, I wanted a sparse glitter look, not an overpowering glitter. I think if i used any other glitter it would overpower the Nailene Bedazzle #71042 stickers that look like snowflakes

Here is a photo I found of the Nailene Snowflake looking stickers from the Bedazzle #71042 nail art stickers....  The round holographic bubble stickers are from a long discontinued Fingr's set of nail stickers.

From Nailene Reviews

and below are the more snowflake looking snowflakes
From Nailene Reviews

Also = In many of my photos below some of my nail crystals have fogged over, the ones that are still clear and faceted are Nailene Brand, and the ones that are foggy are the ones I found at the Dollar Rama Canada....they still look cool though, so I am not complaining. If you apply polish over these plastic 'rhinestones' they will loose their 'crystal-ness'

so for this mani here are the products I used....

~ 2 thin coats of WnW Black Creme - best black polish EVER!!!!
~ applied nail stickers, Nailene and Finger's Brand
~ a dotted on WnW Kaleidoscope, and sorta 'smooshed' it around - I wanted a sparse glitter look.

Since there is no way I would be bare-handed outside right now - all my photos are indoors under fluorescent lighting, although I know this would look pretty outdoors with real snow in the background.

♥ NYC EAST Village and some haul'in ♥

Flash - NYC East Village - 5 coats could use a few more a few more

This is a lovely glowey ocean-turquoise. This was 5 coats! this dried  fast  so it is redeemed, but I do wish it was a smidgen more opaque. I think that glowing finish would be lost if it was more opaque so I'll definitely be layering this over an opaque polish in the future, probably my favirote 'go-to' polish China Glaze Shower Together. In the flash photo above, the glow-i-ness really shows up.

All my photos of  NYC West Village are under cloudy gloomy skies. I applied a Nailene Bedazzle nail sticker over a crack on the base of my ring nail. Nail stickers to the rescue!!!!

w/ NYC Skin Tight Denim

I stepped into Superstore the other day and they had alot of NYC stuff at half price. I suppose they are clearing them out for the new line of NYC polish's. These were $1.14 ( reg. $2.28 ) so I snapped up 2 clears and 2 polish's that I wanted to try but haven't bought for whatever reason. I bought back-ups of West Village and Chinatown, two dark and shimmery polish's that are must have's.

Keep in mind though, these are 9.9 ml and volume wise they are not the most economical of the bargain polish's available...... However they are a great formula, have beautiful richly pigmented shades and are easily available. My only complaint is the NYC polish West Village, which needed like 6 plus coats for full coverage. Next time I will definitely layer it over something when I wear it again.

Grand Central Station - Clear; My new clear polish for frankens
ChinaTown - A fabulous shimmery dark purple - great frankens have been made with this
East Village a watery shimmery turquoise - needs like 6 coats to opacity & could be layered over something
West Village -  An awesome dark blue. Rich and shimmery
Mulberry Street - a shimmery buff shade
Grand Central Station - Clear, My new clear polish for heavy duty shimmers and glass flecks

..........and a few Icings I have picked up in the last month or so... on the 5 for $10 rack.

L to R: Icing Monet, Van Gogh, Marine Blue, Sandy Beach, Blue Goose

L to R: Icing Monet, Van Gogh, Marine Blue, Sandy Beach, Blue Goose, Blue Goose layered
all 2 coats with TC except Blue Goose which was 3. The last nail is Blue Goose layered over ChG Shower Together. Blue Goose is very, very pretty.

Also; Marine Blue had no shimmer in it at all. I picked up alot of the shimmer with the top coat i used from the two chrome like polish's Monet & Van Gogh - {{ Ruining ANOTHER TOP COAT... well contaminating it with shimmery particles. === DANG!}}

Monet -  Sea-foam chrome.... it is more subtle then the China Glaze Krome Metallic Muse
Van Gogh - a grey chrome that I suppose is a knock-off of  ChG SciFi - it even has the Lavender tint to it.
Marine Blue - I wish this had  a 'green' themed name; its more on the green side than blue to me.
Sandy Beach - A fabulous shimmery buff shade
Blue Goose - a glass flecked blue, I picked this up and put it down like 5 times. Its very pretty ( 3 coats )
Blue Goose - layered over ChG Shower Together. ( 3 coats layered over 2 coats of the ChG )

♥ Icing Marine Scene w/ Franken ♥

Below - here is 3 coats of Icing Marine Scene, not to be confused with the fabulous and still currently available Claire's Marine BLUE, followed by a pretty franken painted on the diagonal and a pretty nailene nail stickers  . This polish is in desperate need of more pigmentation.... kinda disappointed in it and next time I wear it I will use a buff polish shade to minimize the bare spots. I knew I would be layering this and did not want to apply the 5 coats needed for opacity.

My ring nail has no TC, but the rest of my nails have 1 coat of Nailene Acrylic Strong Top Coat. I thought it was neat that this polish dried to a satin finish. After I took photos of this polish alone, I applied STRAIGHT french tip guides diagonally across my nails, then added 2 coats of a pretty franken I made using one of my favirote bargain brands of Polish = Billie. I added a beautiful blue nail sticker and another coat of TC.

( I was a little heavy handed with the franken on my ring nail.... oops!)

Sun

I applied Nailene Tips & Toes Nail guides and added 2 thinner coats of my franken - My franken dries to a  satin finish and adding a Top Coat brings out that beautiful pinkish/purplish shimmer ==== WOW!

Sun!

Indoor Fluorescent

The first one on the right, is the franken I used in the diagonal layer for this manicure...... It is soooooooo pretty! I almost took off this entire manicure to wear this polish alone. It is on my list to re-wear ASAP♥

Below, some comparisons..... I totally thought that Icing Marine Scene would be a close match to one of my current Favorites, an Icing LE with no name. Icing CREME finish polish are friggen fabulous.... there sheer polish's need help though. I wish that Marine Scene was alot more opaque.... as I mentioned above this is only 3 coats when I could have used 4 to 5, and even used a 'buff' shade of polish and layered Marine Scene over it to get  a more opaque finish.... Oh Well, It's still pretty♥

L to R - Ardene Matte About Blue, Icing Marine Green, Icing Mystery polish, ChG Shower Together.

Below - Here is Icing marine Scene 3 coats w/TC, and on my ring nail is the Icing LE with no name..... Love that polish! it was 2 coats and with no TC ( for comparison )
